Short information about the project
‘Cross-border Cooperation and Partnership in selected NIS countries and the
Consequences of EU-Enlargement: Fostering Entrepreneurship in the Ukraine,
Belarus and Moldova’ (INTAS No. 04-79-6991, 2005-2007).
Main research objectives:

To assess the potential of cross-border
cooperation of different actors: local authorities, business-associations,
business support agencies, social groups and enterprises at different levels
and in different regions. To examine influence of cross-border cooperation on
entrepreneurship and regional development in CIS countries, bordered with the
EU.

To reveal and assess those factors, which
influence the development and stability of different forms (official and
inoficial) of cross-border cooperation and partnership between various
participants in chosen regions of Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova and border
regions of the EU countries (Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Lithuania and Latvia)
and the EU member to be (Romania).

To assess the role of personal and collective
learning on the regional level, and trust among citizens and institutions,
which favour or impede the cross-border cooperation. To analyse influence of
learning and trust on economic development and the role of such investigation
in analysis of business environment and business support practice.

To reveal and assess the potential influence of
the EU enlargement on entrepreneurship’s development in Ukraine, Belarus and
Moldova, accenting on cross-border cooperation in border regions.

To elaborate a typology of cooperation in border
regions, paying special attention on potential (future) contribution of the
enterprises and that of social and economic partnership to economic
development of the regions.

To present the results of cross-border
cooperation’s investigation to workers of governing bodies, taking decisions
in the domain, and to other persons/ organizations, participating in the
entrepreneurship and the process of regional development in CIS and the EU
members.
